Amber: In the museum, “Inside Ancient Egypt” is on display. Do you want to go with me?

Hana: Inside ancient Egypt?

Jackson: What’s that?

Amber: Do you know Mummy and Pyramid?

H&S: Yes, we know.

Jackson: I think Mummy is creepy, isn’t it?

Hana: Yes. It’s scary and mysteries.

Amber: Not at all. They are amazing. Let me tell you why.

 

A: 最近博物館裡有古埃及的展覽，你們要一起去嗎？

H: 古埃及?

S: 是什麼樣的展覽呢？

A: 你們知道木乃伊和金字塔嗎？

S: 木乃伊很恐怖啊？

H：很可怕又神秘。

A：不是這樣的，讓我來解釋給你們聽。

 

A：In ancient Egypt, people believed when they died, their soul will reunite with their body in the afterlife.  However, the trip to their afterlife is long and dangerous. So they need to do something to preserve their body in this long trip. 古埃及人相信人死後，在來世他們的靈魂會回到他們的身體，然後，這段通往來世的路程漫長而危險，所以他們的身體必須好好保存免於腐壞。

 

H：Mummify means to make a dead person into a mummy. Do you know how long does it take to mummify a body. 70 days. 木乃伊化就是將人變成木乃伊的過程，你們知道要多久可以將人做成木乃伊嗎？要70天呢！

 

J：Wow! Over two months. It’s a long time. And there are manys steps people need to do. Here is the step-by-step process. 哇，要兩個多月，而且有許多步驟要做，以下是製作木乃伊的過程。

1.     Insert a hook through a hole near the nose and pull out part of the brain 要用一個鉤子，由鼻孔進入將腦取出來。A

2.     Make a cut on the left side of the body near the tummy身體左邊的肚子附近切開H

3.     Remove all internal organs 把所有內臟取出J

4.     Let the internal organs dry 要將所有內臟乾燥H

5.     Place the lungs, intestines, stomach and liver inside jars 將肺、腸、胃及肝臟放在卡諾皮克罐子中A

6.     Place the heart back inside the body 心臟要放回身體裡面J

7.     Rinse inside of body with wine and spices在身體的裡面放入酒與香料

8.     Cover the body with salt 以乾燥泡鹼覆蓋身體H

9.     After 40 days stuff the body with linen 40天後填充亞麻布

10.After 70 days wrap the body from head to toe in bandages 70天後用麻布包裹身體。

11.Place in a sarcophagus (a type of box like a coffin) 將身體放置入石棺中。

H: The people in the ancient Egypt were amazing. How they can create such a special way to preserve a human body.古埃及人真是太厲害了，可以用這麼特殊的方法保存人體
