games, and go shopping. Taiwanese people are crazy about night markets.

B: Not yet. The night market usually opens at about 6 p.m. And it gets
more interesting after 8 p.m.
A: OK. I'll meet you at 7 p.m. I can't wait to see it.

We got three days off because we were
celebrating Double Tenth Day!
Double 10 - 雙十節 - is another name people in Taiwan use to say
October 10th.
B: What's so special about the date of October
10th?
A: October 10 is Taiwan's National Day.
And every year, on this day, many people come
to the Presidential Building to watch the parade.
There
will be music, marching, and a lot of people waving the National flag.
And guess what? Important politicians from
Taiwan and other countries will be there too!
Even
the president will be there to watch the parade!
B: It's a huge celebration!
A: That’s right!
You can
also watch the beautiful firework show on Double 10.
B: I know that!
I saw the firework show on TV.
It was
really fantastic!
A: We have a lot to celebrate.
There
are so many cool things in Taiwan!
B: We have beautiful rivers and mountains.
A: We also have great food!

at the night markets.

10月10日是台灣的國慶日，每年的這一天，很多人會來總統府看雙十節遊行，有音樂及樂隊表演，還有很多人會揮舞國旗！其他國家重要的政治領袖也會前來參與，而我們的總統也會在當中一起欣賞遊行表演，並發表國慶演說。國慶日有許多重大的慶祝活動，我們也可以看到絢爛的煙火秀表演！祝福台灣國慶日生日快樂～

National Day 國慶日
有些國家會利用日期的數字來代指國慶日，比方說我們的雙十節稱為 Double Tenth Day。而不使用數字的時候，我們就可以用 National Day 來統稱「國慶日」。nation 是名詞，意思是「國家」，而它的形容詞 national 就是「國家的」。所以「國家的日子」也就是「國慶日」。

parade 遊行
國慶日最熱鬧的活動之一當然就是「遊行」啦！要注意，parade 是用來指慶祝某些事件或節日的遊行，不是指走上街頭抗議的那種遊行喔！

Moon festival means the end
of the fall harvest and people express gratitude to mother earth. Moon Festival
has been celebrated in Taiwan and other places on August 15 in Chinese lunar
calendar., This year the day falls on October 1.
中秋節象徵秋收並向大地表達感謝，每年農曆年的八月十五號人們會慶祝中秋節，今年是在十月一號。
1. Happy Family Time
Moon festival is for people to enjoy a
happy family time. It's like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Parents cook nice food
and the people in the family enjoy a happy family dinner.
中秋節是全家團聚的日子，父母親會準備好吃的食物一起團圓吃晚餐。
2. A Bright Full Moon
Moon festival is the best time to enjoy the
full moon. Full moon also means family time. For those who can't go home, they will
look at the moon and think of their family.
中秋節也是欣賞滿月的最佳時間，月亮也象徵家庭的團聚，如果有人無法回家鄉，就會看著月亮思念家人。
3. Nice Sweet Mooncake
At Moon festival people eat a moon-shape
like dessert called a mooncake. It is the most important food at Moon Festival.
